Get the latest lightweight installer for 64-bit Windows.

Run the installer
Allow the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime download if prompted. If SmartScreen appears, select More info, then Run anyway.

What do I need to use Stenor?
A 64-bit PC running Windows 10 version 2004 or newer, or Windows 11, plus a Gemini API key from Google AI Studio. The small installer offers to download the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime if it is missing. A larger self-contained installer is also available on GitHub Releases.
Where does dictated text go?
Stenor inserts the finished transcription into whichever text field is focused — a document, message, browser form, editor, and more.
Is my API key stored safely?
Your key is encrypted on your PC with Windows DPAPI. Audio is sent to Google Gemini for transcription, while Stenor logs never contain your audio, transcripts, or API key.
Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning?
The current installer is not code-signed, so Windows may show a first-run warning. Choose “More info”, verify the app name, then select “Run anyway” to continue.
Can I change the Right Ctrl shortcut?
Yes. Right Ctrl is only the default. You can choose a different key or key combination and switch between hold and toggle behavior in Settings.
